About the Imperial Knights' cortosis gaunltets

Postby Red XIV » Fri Jan 01, 2010 6:48 am

In Legacy #13, Roan Fel says they're standard issue for all IKs. Yet in Legacy #2, Darth Talon's lightsaber sliced right through an IK's gauntlet and took her hand off. How'd that happen if the gauntlet was made of cortosis?

they only have 1 gauntlet each and if you notice, Fel's is on his off hand(he's righty so it was on his left) so it's safe to assume that the IK who was fighting lefty and got her left hand cut off was wearing the gauntlet on her right

Talon actually sliced at the point where the bracer and hand guard join. Even the best of armor has it's weaknesses and Talon took advantage of that weakness with the precision of her strike.

as Jans point its like Darth Bane: Rule of 2 where the jedi sliced Banes wrist open where the oblisk armor wasnt. althougth the oblisk`s healed his wound in a matter of seconds

Thanks. I was going back through old Legacy issues and this bothered me.

aww come on my explanation is so much more plausible since real gauntlets overlap a little at the joints for the specific reason of not leaving that little exposed gap lol  the orbalisks couldn't overlap because they were attached directly to Bane's skin

You all seem to have given basically the same explanation, Hendo.

Why??
We all know Jedi, Sith, IKs (and other force sensitives) are able to do amazing things with a lightsaber.

No armor is perfect--and an IK should not have to rely on the armor, but on their skill. If Talon managed to hit the IK armor at a joint then maybe she was simply the better fighter.
