MONTREAL – Giant screen exhibitor Imax Corp. is to open the robot boxing movie Real Steel with some punch.
Toronto-based Imax plans 270 domestic dates from Friday, simultaneous with the action movie’s North American wide release.
Imax will also bring the DreamWorks Studios and The Walt Disney Studios picture to at least 100 of its super-sized screens internationally, with 62 theaters releasing day-and-date.
Additional international playdates will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
The Shawn Levy directed and produced picture about next-generation boxing stars Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Dakota Goyo, Anthony Mackie, and Kevin Durand.
Imax digitally remastered Real Steel for its international circuit.
