Curatorial and Tour Services - NYS Capitol Tour Program Title Image

Arranging a Tour
Walk-in tours of the Capitol are offered Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., and on weekends at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3 p.m. Closed holidays.

All groups of 10 or more are required to make reservations by phone two weeks in advance. Please call the NYS Office of General Services Plaza Information Office at (518) 474-2418 to reserve a tour. We also recommend that all visitors call ahead to confirm the daily schedule.

Tour Logistics
COST: Tours are offered free of charge.

LOCATION: All tours of the Capitol begin at the Plaza Visitor Center in the North Concourse.

LENGTH: Tours are approximately 45 to 60 minutes long.

ACCESSIBILITY: Accessibility is limited. Please inform us of any special needs when making your reservation.

GROUP SIZE: A maximum of 60 participants, including chaperones, per tour can be accommodated. Large groups will be divided in half when possible.

CHAPERONES: We suggest that one chaperone be assigned to 10 students. Chaperones should stay with their group at all times and be responsible for the behavior of the entire group, not just their own child. The Capitol is a place of business, and the students should be reminded to be reasonably quiet, and to walk and not run.

APPOINTMENTS:
      with Legislators
If a visit is scheduled with a legislator, please try to make the appointment for after your tour.

ARRIVAL: Please plan to arrive 5 minutes prior to your scheduled tour. If you are going to be late, or must cancel a tour, kindly notify the Plaza Information Office as soon as possible. Due to the large volume of tours during the legislative session, it may not be possible to accommodate groups who arrive more than ten minutes late.
