Clarion Man Selected Student Delegate at RIT

John Reaghart of Clarion was chosen to represent Rochester Institute of Technology’s College of Applied Science and Technology as student delegate at the college’s 118th commencement, May 23 and 24. He will deliver a graduation speech during commencement ceremonies on May 24.

A telecommunications engineering technology major, Reaghart is the son of Linn and Karen Reaghart of Miola Road.

Reaghart was a recipient of an Alumni Scholarship and was named to the Dean’s List 10 of 12 quarters. As an honors intern with the FBI cryptographic/electronic analysis unit in Washington, he trained in computer forensics, analyzed commercial software file-cleaning packages and studied cryptographic capabilities of instant-messenger products. He worked on co-op with Acterna Corp. in Germantown, Md., where he developed a competitive equipment database, enhanced online help systems and performed product marketing responsibilities.

Reaghart studied abroad in Belgium, England, France, Germany and Switzerland. Outside the classroom, he was a student officer with RIT’s Campus Safety, a member of RIT’s Institute Appeals Board and active with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Communications Society and Flower City Habitat for Humanity. He received the American Society for Industrial Security Award.

He plans to travel to Ghana, Africa, this summer to teach grade school through the international volunteer program, Cross-Cultural Solutions, and to pursue graduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University this fall.
