Welding on car?

Well I love the new wheels but the 9 inch wide fronts are rubbing when I turn wheels all the way. Not an issue if I was the only driver, I'd just remember and not turn all the way.........wife drives car though ya I know.

Anyway, I was going to come up with some kind of stop to limit the travel but want to know what precautions I should take when welding ( arc welding) on the car. Or if there is a better idea to control this issue, besides not letting the wife drive it

Thanks again guys!!

Have you thought about putting spacers on the front?

I have 1 inchers on now, looks just right. I dont want to push them out anymore so I'm stuck finding a solution with the steering.

Little known fact:

I added (read: welded) some angle iron to the factory steering limiters on the lower control arms because of the 275/40R17s rubbing on the front of my car. No need for an XH steering box now.

Maybe unplug the ECM as well to be extra safe.
If you want to get real serious unhook the coilpac, crank & cam sensors as well? Just a guess? It wont hurt any but may not help either?

David--you appear very bored,,,you forgot to mention "maybe" dropping gas tank also to prevent possibility of creating a very high static overvoltage & potential arcing from resistance coil in gas tank level sending unit...

I always look for train wrecks...far more exciting

always attach the welder's ground cable as close to the point of the weld as possible....minimizes the antenna effect
