WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- A pair of big-time centers, CAL STATE STANISLAUS' Shannon Donnelly and UC DAVIS' Des Abeyta have been named the Rawlings California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Co-Players of the Week for the week of February 21-27.

Donnelly, one of the nation's most dominating players, set 10 school records this season and has kept Stanislaus in contention for a postseason berth. The freshman from Ceres, Calif. was a juggernaut against CCAA Champion Cal Poly Pomona and Grand Canyon last week. In a narrow 79-76 loss to Pomona, Donnelly scored a team-high 29 points and added a game-high 15 rebounds. She came back the next night to finish the regular season with her CCAA-leading 24th double double in a 25-point win over Canyon. Donnelly scored a game-high 32 points, and added a game-high 21 rebounds, game-high six steals and three assists.

She averaged 30.5 points and 18.0 rebounds and shot 51 percent from the floor (23 of 45) last week.

Abeyta, a senior from Sacramento, Calif., led her team to a second-place finish in the CCAA with a pair of key road wins at Cal State, San Bernardino and UC Riverside. She scored a game-high 27 points on 71 percent shooting (12 of 17), and added six rebounds and four steals in a 73-55 win over CSUSB. The following night Abeyta made the most of her opportunities, scoring 14 points on 75 percent shooting (6 of 8), and added 11 rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot in a 72-67 win over UCR. Abeyta averaged 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds and shot 72 percent (18 of 25) from the floor last week. The Player of the Week honor is the second for Abeyta this season.

Both Davis and Stanislaus await the NCAA Championship West Regional pairings to see if they are among the four at-large teams invited to participate.
