WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- GRAND CANYON middle
blocker Nicole Cyrus has been named the California Collegiate
Athletic Association Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the
week of September 20-26.
Cyrus, a 5-10 senior from Long Beach, Calif.,
kept the Antelopes tied for first place in the CCAA with strong
performances in the San Francisco Bay Area last week. In a
four-game victory over San Francisco State, Cyrus tallied a
match-high 20 kills and added 16 digs, two block solos and five
block assists. She then had 13 kills, two block solos, three block
assists, all of which were match highs, and hit .478 in a
three-game sweep of Sonoma State. For the week, Cyrus averaged
4.71 kills, 2.71 digs, 1.71 blocks and hit .433.
