WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- GRAND CANYON center Veronica Gonzales has been named the Rawlings California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of December 6-12.

Gonzales, a 6-1 senior from Phoenix, Ariz., earned the honor for the second straight week after powering the Lady 'Lopes to an 86-77 overtime win over Cal State, San Bernardino last week. She scored eight of her game-high 23 points in the extra period and added a season-high-tying 17 rebounds, three blocked shots, two assists and a steal to lead GCU. Gonzales was nine of 22 from the floor (40.9 %) and converted all four free-throw attempts.
