WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- GRAND CANYON guard
Toure Knighton has been named the Rawlings California Collegiate
Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the
week of December 13-19.
Knighton, a 6-3 junior from Tucson, Ariz., was
the driving force behind three Antelope wins this past week,
including two key victories on the road. He opened the week with a
team-high 23 points on seven of 12 shooting, and added nine
rebounds and two steals in a 66-60 home win over UC Riverside.
Knighton then scored 16 points and added nine boards, three
assists and a blocked shot as GCU handed Chico State its first
home loss of the season, an 89-81 overtime defeat.
Knighton tallied 10 points, 10 rebounds, four
assists and two steals in the Antelopes' 58-51 win at defending
CCAA Champion UC Davis to conclude the week. He averaged 16.3
points and 9.3 rebounds, shot 48.5 percent from the floor (16 of
33) and converted 15 of 21 free-throw attempts (71.4 percent) over
the three-game stretch as Grand Canyon evened its CCAA mark to
3-3. The Player of the Week honor is the first of Knighton's
career.
