May 22 -- CCAA's Best Compete at NCAA Championships
A total of 49 student-athletes (27 women, 22 men) will represent the CCAA and their respective institutions at the NCAA D-II Championships to be held May 25-27 in Raleigh, North Carolina. UC Davis, winner of both the men's and women's conference championships, enters both meets with the depth and breadth to challenge for the national crowns.

Three sports have CCAA members still competing and their progress can be followed on the Web. Clicking on the above icons or below links will access softball (UC Davis in nationals) and baseball (Chico St. and Grand Canyon in regionals) sites. May 16 -- CCAA Champion Chico State, Grand Canyon Advance to NCAA D-II Championship Play
By virtue of winning the CCAA crown, Chico maintained its top ranking in the West Region and is the No. 1 seed in the regional tournament, to be hosted by second-seeded Fort Hays State. Grand Canyon earned the No. 3 seed and will square off with Fort Hays in the second game of the regional's opening day.

May 16 -- UC Davis Advances to NCAA D-II Finals
UC Davis plays the role of Cinderalla for another week after taking the West Region Championship at Humboldt State last week as the No. 4 seed and only unranked team in the regional. The Ags advance to the NCAA D-II Finals for the fourth time ever and the third in the past five years.

May 15 -- Cal State Stanislaus Hosts 2000 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship
CCAA Champion Grand Canyon, West Region Champion UC Davis and Cal State Bakersfield join host Stanislaus as CCAA members competing in the four-day, 16-team event.

May 13 -- Chico State Wins CCAA Baseball Title
No. 1 seed Chico State battled back through the loser's bracket and beat Cal Poly Pomona twice, 4-2 and 4-1, to win the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Tournament.

May 13 -- UC Davis Wins CCAA Track Championships
The UC Davis men and women successfully defended their team championships at the 2000 California Collegiate Athletic Association Track and Field Championships held at the Woody Wilson Track in Davis. The Aggie men finished with 267.5 points, with Chico State in second with 106.5 and Cal Poly Pomona in third at 105. The UC Davis women scored 245 points, doubling the next closest team. Cal St. Dominguez Hills finished second with 109 points, and edge Cal St. Stanislaus for second place by a half-point.

May 12 -- UC Davis Men, Women Lead at CCAA Track
UC Davis has the lead in the men's team standings after the opening day of the 2000 California Collegiate Athletic Association Track & Field Championships being held at the Woody Wilson Track. UC Davis has scored 53 points. On the women's side, UC Davis used its depth to take the team with lead 58 points after six of 21 finals were contested.

May 12 -- Chico State Stays Alive to Face Cal Poly Pomona in Championship
The Chico State pitching staff combined to give up no earned runs and keep the Wildcats title hopes alive, beating Grand Canyon 10-1 in an elimination game in the California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Championship Tournament. No. 1 seed Chico State (41-10) will battle No. 4 seed Cal Poly Pomona (32-24) for the CCAA Championship title on Saturday at 1 p.m.

May 12 -- Cal Poly Pomona Advances to Championship Game
No. 4 seed Cal Poly Pomona cruised into the championship game of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Championship Tournament with a commanding 9-2 win over No. 2 seed Grand Canyon University. Pomona is now 32-24, Grand Canyon, 37-20.

May 12 -- Chico State Avoids Elimination in CCAA Tourney With Win Over Sonoma State
Chico State rallied for 16 hits and got a solid pitching performance from starter Alex Carbajal as the Wildcats beat Sonoma State, 8-4, in the first of two elimination games today at the CCAA Baseball Championship Tournament. Chico State improves its record to 40-10; Sonoma State ends its season at 39-23.

May 11 -- Grand Canyon and Pomona Win Games in First Day of CCAA Baseball Championship Tournament
Grand Canyon University's Josh Brack stroked a long single to center field to drive in Blake Woods for the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh to give the 'Lopes a 3-2 victory over Sonoma State in the opening game of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Championship Tournament. Cal Poly Pomona belted out 10 runs on 12 hits in a easy 10-2 first-round victory over No. 1 seed Chico State in game two.

May 11 -- Three CCAA Squads Compete in NCAA D-II Championship
For the first time since 1989, the California Collegiate Athletic Association had three teams selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Softball Championship. Nine-time defending CCAA Champion Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Stanislaus, and UC Davis make up 75 percent of the NCAA West Regional, to be held on the campus of defending NCAA D-II Champion and top-ranked Humboldt State.

May 11 -- Sonoma's Bell and Chico's Hernandez Take Top All-CCAA Baseball Honors
Sonoma State shortstop Derek Bell has been named the 2000 California Collegiate Athletic Association Baseball Player of the Year and Chico State righthander John-Eric Hernandez has been selected Pitcher of the Year in an all-league vote of the coaches. Also, Chico State head coach Lindsay Meggs was tabbed the CCAA Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season.

May 8 -- CCAA Champ Bakersfield's Top Guns Named the League's Best for 2000
Cal State Bakersfield's shortstop Alicia Castro has been named the 2000 California Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Player of the Year and ace pitcher Melanie Wood has been selected Pitcher of the Year in a vote of the league coaches on Monday. Cal State Stanislaus coach Jan Schefkowitz was named the CCAA Coach of the Year after guiding the Warriors to a tie for second place in the CCAA and Stanislaus' first-ever trip the NCAA Division II Championship.
