The Valparaiso men's soccer team and the Southern Utah and Valparaiso women's soccer teams were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with Team Academic Awards for the 2005 season. To be eligible for the award, a team must have a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the 2004-05 academic year.
Both Valparaiso squads received the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the third straight year, and are one of just 13 schools in NCAA Division I to have both programs earn the honor.
Valpo, led by head coach Mis’ Mrak’s, is one of just 65 teams to earn the honor on the men’s side. Valpo’s men recorded a 3.20 team grade point average.
Brian Stock's Southern Utah women's team posted a 3.32 team grade point average last academic year, while Stephen Anthony’s Valpo women’s squad tallied a 3.55 GPA. SUU and Valpo are among 246 female programs to be recognized.
