ORU Falls to #12 Washington in First Round of NCAA Tournament

SEATTLE, Wash. The Oral Roberts University men's tennis team saw its eight match win streak snapped in the opening round match of the 2005 NCAA Tournament, as they fell 4-0 to #12 Washington at the Bill Quillian on Friday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles ended the year with a 13-13 mark, including a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play.
Washington (19-4) advances on to take on #21 Southern California tomorrow, May 14, at 2 p.m. with the winner advancing onto the NCAA's Round of 16 in College Station, Texas.
ORU fell behind 1-0 early, after the Huskies claimed the doubles point with wins in the No. 2 and 3 matches. It was more of the same during singles action, as Washington won the first three matches en route to their 4-0 sweep.
Cuan Farquharson (Durbin, South Africa) fell at the No. 3 singles spot, falling to #44 Alex Slovic, 6-1, 6-0. The Huskies' Mike Ricks then topped Adam Ehrlich (St. Louis, Missouri), 6-1, 6-1, to give the home team a 2-0 lead.
The match came to a close when #6 Alex Vlaski outlasted Wessel Kemp (Pretoria, South Africa), 6-3, 6-2, to clinch the victory for Washington.
