IUPUI's Tarvin and Pyatt garner national academic honors

IUPUI men’s tennis players Marc Pyatt and Nick Tarvin have been named ITA Scholar-Athlete by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the 2004-05 year. It is the second consecutive year that Pyatt earned the honor. He was one of 70 Division I men’s players to repeat on the list.
In order to be eligible for the award, student-athletes must be a varsity letterwinner, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or above (on a 4.00 scale) and be enrolled at their school for at least two semesters.
This past year, Pyatt registered a team-high 14 doubles wins along with 11 singles victories, while being named Second Team All-Conference by the Mid-Con for the second straight year.
Pyatt earned his undergraduate degree from the Kelley School of Business this past spring. He garnered Academic All-Conference recognition from the Mid-Con for the second straight year. He was chosen Collegiate All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy for the second time and was selected as one of IUPUI’s Top 100 students. He also was recognized with awards from the Jaguars Letter and Athletics Clubs.
This past year, Tarvin accumulated a 7-11 singles mark and a 2-7 doubles record.
The 6-foot-1 junior that studies in the School of Science has been named to IUPUI’s Academic Advisor’s List six times. This past year he was named to IUPUI’s All-Academic Team, chosen Academic All-Conference by the Mid-Con and selected Collegiate All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy for the second consecutive year. In addition, Tarvin was selected to IUPUI’s Student-Athlete Academic Top 10 List during the fall semester.
