Preseason favorite Oral Roberts opened up Mid-Con play with a 1-0 win over Centenary. In the other match involving conference teams, IUPUI and Southern Utah battled to a scoreless tie. In non-conference action, Valparaiso controlled the action but could not score as it dropped its match against North Dakota State, 2-0.

Preseason favorite Oral Roberts opened up its 2005 conference schedule with a 1-0 win over Centenary. The Golden Eagles got a goal from Gentry Detter during injury time at the end of the second half to post the win. ORU outshot the Ladies, 34-5.

IUPUI and Southern Utah played to a scoreless tie in the conference opener for both schools. Jessie Mann performed under constant SUU pressure and recorded five saves on the day. The Thunderbirds had a 15-6 shot advantage and had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

North Dakota State 2, Valparaiso 0
Valparaiso dropped a 2-0 decision to North Dakota State in the opening match of the Diadora Classic. The Crusaders controlled the action with a 27-10 shot advantage, but the Bison capitalized on some defensive miscues to get the win.
