Delete your entire journal by visiting the
Account Status page while
logged in. Change your Journal Activation Status to "Deleted" and click on "Save Changes". Undelete your journal by returning to the
Account Status page and changing your Journal Activation Status to "Activated". Delete or undelete a community you maintain by selecting your community from the "Work as user" menu on the
Account Status page and clicking the "Switch" button.
You are the only person who can delete your journal. LiveJournal staff and volunteers cannot delete it for you.Deleted Accounts
A deleted journal can be undeleted for at least 30 days. When you undelete your journal, all of your entries, comments, and settings, including your Friends list, will be the same as they were before you deleted your journal.
While your account is deleted, your journal and User Information page will not be visible, and your username will appear with a line through it. However, any past comments and entries in communities will still be visible; you may want to find and manually delete these
comments and
entries in communities. There is no way to list all of the comments and entries you have made.
Deleted and Purged Accounts
After your account has been deleted for at least 30 days, it is marked as being available for purging. Your account will remain in the deleted state until the next purging cycle when it will be completely removed from LiveJournal servers.
As purging cycles place a great amount of strain on LiveJournal databases, deleted accounts are not purged on a regular basis, and they may remain in the deleted state for much longer than the 30 day grace period. You cannot request to have specific deleted accounts purged in advance or to have a purging cycle occur sooner.
Your account cannot be undeleted after purging. If you would like to continue using LiveJournal, you will need to
create a new account.Paid & Permanent Accounts
- Paid Accounts: As stated in the LiveJournal Terms of Service, Paid Accounts are non-transferable and non-refundable. If you choose to delete your Paid LiveJournal, you cannot transfer your paid time to another account or receive a refund.
- Automatic Payments: If you delete a journal that is signed up for automatic payments, your payments will be stopped. If you choose to undelete that journal, your paid account time will be credited through your last billing cycle and then your paid time will expire. If you want to resume automatic payments on an undeleted journal, you will have to complete the automatic payment signup process again.
- Deleted journals of all account types (Early Adopter, Free, Paid, Permanent, and Sponsored+ Accounts) are eligible for purging.
