Adding a School to your User Info page

Visit the Schools Directory to find your school. Once you've found it, click the "Add" button under the name and location of the school to add it to your User Info page. Add the school to the Community Info page of a community that you maintain by choosing the community from the drop-down box before clicking "Add".

You can add schools that you attend now or ones you attended in the past. Personal journals and OpenID accounts can add up to 25 schools, while communities can add up to 50 schools.

By default, schools you add are listed on your User Info page, along with the city, state, and years attended (if specified). If you want to hide your school or only let friends see it, uncheck the Show your school's information on your userinfo? option or select Friends only in the Edit Personal Information page's "Who can view this information?" drop-down box.

However, these security options for your User Info page do not hide your journal's listing on your school's search page. Instead, you will need to remove the school by following the instructions on the Manage Schools page.

Adding a School to the Directory

If you can't find your school in the Schools Directory, you can use the Add A School page to submit your school's information. When adding a school, please follow the guidelines listed on the page. Your submission will then enter the queue to be verified for accuracy. Once approved, it will appear on your User Info page and will be added to the Schools Directory. You can later return to the Manage Schools page to add the years that you attended your school.

Changing a School in the Directory

You can also request corrections to incorrect or incomplete school information by opening a support request in the "Schools Directory" category. When doing so, please provide a direct link to the school's page (for example, http://www.livejournal.com/schools/?ctc=US≻=IL&cc;=Urbana-Champaign&sid;=1088) in order to speed up the processing of your request.
