A Site FAQ

Why's this here, you ask? Because... I want it to be. Actually, I get about as many questions about the actual site and how it works as I do about Redwall. So, you've got the rest of the site to learn about Redwall and this one little page to learn about the site.

You have ads on the site. You are evil!
Yeah, well, I was evil anyway. >:) I've added ads to a some of pages on the site. Sue me. They don't intrude upon the content, and in some cases I added them, in part, for design purposes to break up pages that otherwise contained other text. Basically, I consider running this site a hobby of mine, and it's a somewhat expensive one (ah, for the days when I collected rocks...). If I made baskets as a hobby (which I used to), I could make money to buy more materials. But I run a website, so I am, in effect, trading out part of my website in return for revenue. Some of the advertisers pay a certain amount for every thousand viewings of an ad, so just by viewing the pages, you're being helpful. Other advertisers, like Sprint and Inktomi, pay per click, so if you're feeling REALLY helpful, click on an ad or two every time you visit. (And yes, all revenue is used for the site.)

Why is this site named 'Starfire's Redwall Abbey?' Why not 'Ashley's Hut of Redwall-y Goodness,' or something... creative?
When this site was first made, it was called 'Redwall Abbey,' since the different sections of the site corresponded to those in the abbey from the books. However, I soon awoke from my newbieness and realised how many 'Redwall Abbey's were out there, so I popped my Redwall name, 'Starfire', in front of the title and changed the name. Hence lack of uncreativeness. The official name is still 'Starfire's Redwall Abbey,' but I (and others) have taken to calling it 'Starfire's Redwall,' and you may see it referred to elsewhere as 'Starry's site' or just plain 'Starry's.' One day I'll put up a big neon sign like they put up in front of drive-in restuarants that says 'Eat at Starry's.'

How come you alternately refer to the creators of the site as 'I,' 'we,' and 'Starfire?' Are there more than one of you?
Quite sadly, I don't clone very well, so there's only one of me. I'm 'I' and 'Starfire,' and 'we' is how I refer to people who have helped out with the site by submitting things, or who have continued to come back to the site regularly and invite their friends. 'We' basically refers to the community of people who visit the site, which wouldn't exist if I were the only one working on it.

Do you have any help running this site? Do you need any?
I handle all the technical stuff and the updating. By way of the forums, there is a 'team' of co-administrators and moderators who help keep the boards and the RPG running properly.
Some people say I need help, but I'm pretty sure they mean in a pyschiatric way... if you want to help, send something in to the site, invite a friend to check it out, put a big huge link on your own site...

Oook. I'm looking for [piece of information] and I can't find it. Any clues?
Yep. From every main page of the site you should have access to the menu on the left side of the page. All the links have a very brief description of what's on that part of the site. You should be able to find what you need by reading them. If you're still having trouble getting around, feel free to e-mail me and ask me where something is.

Okay. I'd like you to put my [this and this and this] on your website. Will you?
Sure! There are a few guidelines, however - to find these, head to the part of the site that your submission falls under (the rules will be either on the main page of a section or linked from the main page of that section). If you don't see the proper area to send your work through, or you've got something that's new and creative that doesn't belong anywhere, just send it via e-mail.

Hey! I submitted [this and this and this] [some unimaginable amount of time] ago, and it still hasn't been put up! What's the deal?
...I've tried schedules. They don't work. If your submission hasn't been attended to after a few weeks, then there are several possibilities as to why; however, I won't list them here. If it's been an unreasonable amount of time, give me a friendly poke via e-mail and politely inquire as to the delay.

So, are you Brian Jacques?
Nope - I've never even met him. If for some strange reason you'd like to find out more about me, the non-Brian-Jacques person, then check out Chaos, my personal site.

Hey, you used to have this big blue thing down the side of your site and... I want one! Give it to me! Ah-hahaha!
Eep! Don't hurt me... the blue thing is called a sideline (well, sometimes it is), and you can find out how to make your own at HTML Goodies. It's the place I learned how to make mine; just go to the backgrounds tutorial and click on the link to find out how to make a sideline background.

This site #&*@s! I hate it! I could do way better!
...mmkay. Make your own site, then. And send me the link. >:)
