She’ll co-star in the Denzel Washington thriller

Max Payne co-star Mila Kunis has joined the cast of Denzel Washington’s new thriller The Book Of Eli.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kunis will play a sexy woman named Solara, who is recruited by Eli (Washington)’s enemies to betray him.

But the hero, who is trying to protect a sacred book that holds the secret to saving the future of humanity in post-apocalyptic world, manages to convince her to join his quest.

Astro Boy teaser goes live

See the CG lad explode into space

Imagi Studios has released the first teaser trailer for Astro Boy.

The film, from the makers of TMNT, is adapted from the classic Manga series, sees a robotic boy struggling to live up to his father’s expectations, Pinocchio-style, but ultimately ending up a hero.

The voice cast includes Freddie Highmore, Kristen Bell, Nicholas Cage, Bill Nighy and Donald Sutherland.

Long wait

If you’ve been waiting for this one, get ready to keep holding that breath – the film doesn’t arrive until late 2009. Curse those long ‘toon development schedules!

Crank directors ditch Jonah Hex

Neveldine and Taylor are off the comic book pic

Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, better known as the directors of Crank, have left the adaptation of DC Comics’ gunslinger title Jonah Hex.

The pair, who wrote the script and had been developing the movie, departed over what’s being described as “creative differences”.

No Country For Old Men star Josh Brolin is apparently still set to play Hex, according to Variety.

50 Cent joins Dead Man Running

Gangland crime pic gathers cast

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has joined the cast of Alex de Rakoff’s London-set indie crime pic Dead Man Running.

The film, which started shooting yesterday, already features Layer Cake’s Tamer Hassan, Adulthood’s Danny Dyer, Brenda Blethyn and Monet Mazur, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Jackson will play a nasty loan shark in the film, which finds an ex-con trying to nab £100,000 to pay him off.
