Hilary Swank playing The Resident
A stalker thriller from Hammer Films
BY James White Dec 4th 2008 // 6:06AM FILED UNDER: Movie News
Hilary Swank has latched on to stalker thriller The Resident, which Hammer Films is producing.
Swank will play a doctor who moves into a New York loft, but soon discovers that her landlord is (cue the dramatic music sting!) a creepy stalker.
First-time helmer Antti J Jokinen will direct the film from his script co-written with Robert Orr.
Secretary writer
But the screenplay also has some added girl power – Secretary scribe Erin Cressida Wilson has polished it up, which is probably why Swank decided to star.
The film will start shooting in May, and once its released, we’ll all start hoping it turns out better than The Reaping.

Despite earlier attempts by director Zack Snyder to keep Watchmen around 2 hours and 45 minutes, he’s had to edit the film down a little.
Don’t panic, though – it’s not like an hour will be missing. "We're getting really close," producer Deborah Snyder tells Sci Fi. "We're at two hours and 35 minutes."
Though the Snyders have a shared passion to keep the film as long as possible, it looks like the studio wants them to keep on slicing.

For those now saying “Joan who?” a quick briefing: The Runaways were a hugely influential band, the first successful all-girl rock group.

Literary history buffs will like this one – the 2002 book focuses on Dante’s best-known work, The Divine Company, jumping between time periods to show him trying to complete it as Tosches aims to authenticate it.

Love his films or loathe them (or both), Roland Emmerich knows a thing or two about Earth-destroying spectacle.
And his current apocalypso sounds like it’ll top even previous efforts such as ID4 and The Day After Tomorrow.
At least, that’s the impression one gets from one of 2012’s stars, Amanda Peet, who talked about the early footage she’s seen to MTV.

While Hardwicke isn’t confirmed to helm the movie – she still has to work out a contract with the studio – she is ready for the job if all the details can be locked down.

While there have been a few rumblings of mostly remakes in the past, rumours are rising of a possible return to the Speed films.
AICN has been sent a tip that Fox may be trying to find a way to return the Jack Traven character – as originated by Keanu Reeves in the first film – for a new outing.
A scriptment has been floating around that, while it offers little in the way of detail, might form a way for Reeves to return to one of the films that originally helped make him a star.
