‘A Not So Silent Night’

WENDOH Media’s holiday party once again lived up to its billing, this time at Nove Italiano restaurant in the Palms’ Fantasy Tower. Fueled by sponsors Patrón, Stoli, Red Bull, Tuaca and Rock Saké, the fifth annual bash featured music by Scottsdale, Ariz.’s DJR, and a one-night-only art gallery by M Modern and a mini car show by Audi of Henderson.

Food, Wine, Charity

More than 60 guests helped make Christmas merrier for kids when wine expert and chef Les Kincaid held his annual Toys for Tots event on Nov. 29. Hosted by Brio Tuscan Grille in Town Square, this broadcast of Kincaid’s weekly syndicated radio program, Les’ Wines & Vines, combined charity with fine wine and food. Guests donated toys and enjoyed the pairing of three of the restaurant’s signature dishes with a selection of wines from Beringer Winery.

A Brainy Gathering

Champagne flowed at the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health when pop artist James Rosenquist’s Cervello Spazio Cosmico was unveiled on Nov. 20. Translated as “brain space,” the soaring piece was commissioned by casino mogul Steve Wynn and will be on permanent display at the Keep Memory Alive Events Center. Larry Ruvo, chairman and founder of Keep Memory Alive, the fundraising arm of the Center, invited 100 of his most significant donors to the unveiling and the dinner that followed.

Sleep Tight

The Women’s Club of Summerlin recently rallied members and friends to present a remarkable afternoon of charitable giving. The annual Eat, Drink and Make a Difference luncheon at the JW Marriott was one of the largest and most successful fundraisers of the season, drawing together members of the Summerlin community as well as those who support their efforts. This year’s beneficiary was Baby’s Bounty, a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide safe sleep environments for infants.

Hot Competition

The Tower Climb Benefit, a combined effort on Nov. 13 by firefighters from Clark County, North Las Vegas, Nellis Air Force Base, Henderson and Las Vegas, was a rousing success. With nearly 150 firefighters and emergency personnel participating, the fundraiser on behalf of the Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation was a friendly competition between local agencies. Each participant climbed the 108-floor, 1,455-step tower in the competition sponsored and hosted by the Stratosphere hotel-casino.

Over the Top

Hailed as the biggest Halloween costume party of the year, the Beaux Arts Ball drew a crowd of more than 1,100 to Studio 54 inside the MGM Grand. Known for its over-the-top attitude and spectacular entertainment, the late-night affair began at 10 p.m. and continued into to the wee hours (4:30 a.m.). The fundraiser on behalf of Golden Rainbow has become a showcase for original production pieces created for the night by Strip choreographers and entertainers. The event raised more than $28,000.
