Food porn went mobile in 2009 when Alexa Andrzejewski (Adaptive Path), Ted Grubb (Get Satisfaction) and Soraya Darabi (New York Times) launched Foodspotting, an app for reviewing specific dishes instead of restaurants.

Foodspotting only wants the good stuff, though. Users upload photos of dishes ("noms") they love, tagging each with a location. When a Foodspotter gets hungry, he or she can use the app to literally see what dishes are available nearby. Users can also create lists of foods they want to try, "check-in" to foods others have uploaded, and comment on dishes.

Foodspotting has half a million users and just celebrated its first birthday on Saturday, so the cream has had plenty of time to rise to the top. Check out the Top 20 New York City Foods, According to Foodspotting.
