Lawyers Swap in Lower Fifth's Finest

Oh, to be in Florida this time of year, especially this year, avoiding this dastardly weather. Not only can Regina and Stephen Solomon rejoice that they are missing the record January snows but also that a fellow barrister has made it rain for them in a far more welcome way.

Faith Gay, a partner at Quinn Emanual and co-chair of the firm's national trial practice, has just purchased the couple's three-bedroom co-op on the third floor of 40 Fifth Avenue for $4.425 million. A classic seven if ever there was one, the home even has a charming loggia that currently serves as a home office full of plants.

"The grand living room, with a woodburning fireplace and a Juliet balcony with French doors framed by an elegant balustrade, is stately," states Ann Weintraub's listing. The broker could not be reached for comment.

Carter Horseley of City Realty calls this 13-story wonder "The most elegant high-rise apartment building on Lower Fifth Avenue and in Greenwich Village." This is not some fancy, fractured condo on starchitects' row.

Just over a year ago, the founder of Chipotle, Steven M. Ells, moved into the penthouse of Voice co-founder Edwin Francher for $11 million, and Veronica Bulgari owns a duplex in the building, according to PropertyShark. More recently, another three-bedroom, this one on the eighth floor, sold to yet another attorney, Stephanie G. Wheeler of Sullivan & Cromwell. She paid only $3.6 million for her unit.
