The Great Spring Art Fair Marathon

A dizzying 11 art fairs will fight for the attention of New York City collectors and art-lovers starting Tuesday, March 1. Bringing in the big guns, by and large, are the dealers who’ll be showing at the Park Avenue Armory. There, works by some of the most famous artists (Picasso, Warhol) will hang in booths curated by some of the city’s more established galleries (Acquavella, Mitchell-Innes & Nash, Pace).


This is a competitive show, with dealers trying to out-do each other with the rarity or quality of the wares, and some do museum-style solo shows of one artist: (Knoedler’s doing Milton Avery, Luring Augustine’s showing Brit star Rachel Whiteread, Alice Neel's at Zwirner.)  The fair runs through Sunday March 6, $20 a pop.
