PHOTOGRAPHY
“Back to the Future”

Irina Werning’s “Back to the Future” takes old snapshots and re-creates them—painstakingly, with stunning fidelity—in the present day.

You’ll see the same people, wearing the same clothes and striking the same poses, in each set of paired photos. (One set, of “Lulu & G in Buenos Aires, in 1980 and 2010,” is ever-so-slightly NSFW.) Most of the shots are separated by at least a few decades: Scroll down to see what Werning’s parents look like at either end of a 40-year divide. (In one case, there’s a gap of 54 years.) Some of these folks changed more than others. But in every instance, we were struck by how much of their younger selves they’d managed to retain.
