Shake Shack in Madison Square Park has the most Foursquare check-ins of any New York restaurant, according to TheFeast.com, which ranks restaurants in real time according to Web reviews, ratings and online buzz.

The Madison Square Park location has 16,968 check-ins and counting. Altogether, Shake Shack's five locations boast more than 35,000 check-ins.

The numbers shouldn't be a surprise. Shake Shack is a favorite hang out for local techies—the Foursquare venue is even tagged "tech hangout"—and the long lines afford ample time for patrons to twiddle on their smartphones.

The runner-up was Eataly on Fifth Ave., with 14,655 check-ins. Balthazar on Spring St., which is tagged with "blogger hangout," has 11,545; The Coffee Shop in Union Square, another techie hangout, has 10,822.

The top 25 list also included cult favorites Stumptown Coffee, Artichoke Pizza as well as Momofuku Milk Bar and Katz's Deli, where you only need 9 check-ins to be mayor.
