Kris Parikh and Lok Neopaney

Common curry is uncommonly good at Mint Indian Bistro. Now you try!

The name has changed and the restaurant has been renovated, but the food at Mint Indian Bistro has remained just as delicious as it was when owner Kris Parikh first opened the doors three years ago. Unfortunately for Parikh, his first foray into the restaurant world was made under the name Himalayan Cuisine. Las Vegans don't know what Himalayan food is, and few wanted to try it. Business was slow to say the least. The restaurant reopened a year later under its current and far less intimidating name and, finally, the buzz began to build. A renovation transformed the drab interior into a modern dining room for 70, complete with comfortable leather seating and soothing earth tones. Parikh is even talking about a second location.

Trisha Hall

Keeper of the Brand

As director of corporate media at MGM Resorts International, Trisha Hall oversees a department that plans and buys about 95 percent of the print, radio, TV and outdoor advertising for the company. That means handling a huge portfolio that includes 13 properties in Las Vegas, plus properties in Reno, Detroit and Beau Rivage, Miss., in addition to other corporate initiatives. “It’s my job to make the property look good,” Hall says. “It’s different every single day, and we get to work on a lot of different properties—at times often competing with ourselves. We’re kind of like Proctor & Gamble: All of our products sit on the same shelves.”

John Schenk

At Strip House, humble side dishes assume center-stage status

Chef John Schenk is master of two things: steak and spinach. As executive chef of Strip House, he oversees six steak houses and holds the recipe for the most sensuous creamed spinach in the city.

“It’s kind of my job to taste creamed spinach everywhere I go, and I find very few that even come close to ours,” Schenk says. “I’m a very modest person, but our creamed spinach is the best out there.”
