After a recommendation from Gonz, and a 2 month wait, these bad boys finally arrived from The Hut.
I've never used headphones for gaming before, so I've got no comparison to make with other ones, but I'm absolutely delighted with them. This surround sound malarky is great.

They've got CoD on them so good look on finding anybody here that'll like them regardless of whether they're any good or not.
I'll be interested to hear, no pun intended, what you think of them. I'm going to get my lad the X41's (at least I think it was those) for crimbo, that'll be my first use of surround headphones.

I have some X41s and I'm a very big fan. The sound field's not as large as you'd get with proper surround sound, so pinpointing if a movement in the 7 o'clock is actually in the 6 or 8 can sometimes be tricky, but that seems a bit churlish to complain about.
I use cheap batteries in them by admission, but they don't last long. There's a tiny background hiss, but any noise at all drowns it out. Chat is excellent.

Just shelled for the Astro Mixamp 5.8 and Sennheiser PC360 combo, which'll be nice. I hope. Am assuming the 7.1 surround emulation's up to snuff and I'll be able to monitor mine own vox.
Can't help wondering if I ought to have held off 'til Razer's Tiamat true 7.1 headdo arrives in the next quarter, however.
Tentatively recommending the Splitfish FragFX nunchuck and mouse kit too, now I've grown comfier with it. Felt nice to actually hit people consistently last night on Gears. With twinsticks, always seemed to be pulling my aim down when R-triggering throught sheer nervous tension, now banished.
Only thing that'd top it would be a remote-aim dealy via the Kinect system I am supposing
I think I'm going to get myself this. I started my FPS gameplaying on PC an whereas the mouse cannot be topped the keyboard let it down when compared with a joypad, at least with this I will have the best of both worlds..

Be advised, you need to be sure it's compatible with how you prefer to place yourself when buttonpushing. Comes with a hardbacked mousemat to rest on the lap or whatever, but a solid surface as you'd have when at a desk makes things rather less awkward, for stability but also wrist elevation.
I'll tend to be reclining like a Roman libertine, watching a projected image, so an extra wee table by the long couch did for me.
The chuck's cool (if, like the mouse, a bit overlarge for my womanly grasp; sort of tempted to rip the thing apart and rehouse it). D-pad's even acceptable. Were there an analogue button movement solution I'd investigate it but there ain't, so.
Make sure you have a wired legit 360 pad in your toybox also, the FragFx needs to run through it to authenticate the periph and provide you a mic port.
I'm thinking about pushing for some new gaming 'phones. As much as I'd like some Astro's, I can justify the price. Perhaps some low price Turts will be the way forward.
Guns, drugs, hookers and no pants.
Mine were £70 from The Hut, and the surround sound is amazing. Playing Gta4 again was very good, as was Dead Space.
Yup, £80 for my X41s from Turtle Beach's official eBay.

Does anyone have a PX21, and if so is it worth getting? I like the fact I can use it on PS3, Xbox and PC. But I don't want to pay that much for a shit headset.
They're fine, apparently. No idea how they work with the PS3 though, does it accept USB headsets?

Yeah, I used to use the SOCOM one with Burnout.
