Isabelle Morin is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Canadian House of Commons in the 2011 election.[1] She represents the electoral district of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce—Lachine as a member of the New Democratic Party.

Prior to being elected, Morin taught French in the dramatic arts program at the École secondaire Cavelier de LaSalle while completing her bachelor’s degree in education. In 2009, after being elected vice-president of the University of Sherbrooke Students’ Federation, Morin was elected to the board of the Mouvement Estrien pour le Français, an organization which opposes all political initiatives that aim to institutionalize bilingualism in Quebec.[2]

During the 2011 election, Morin came under intense criticism from her opponent on her inability to communicate in English in a bilingual riding and for censoring her Facebook page.[3] Morin responded to such allegations by doing an interview entirely in English with The Suburban shortly after the election campaign; journalist P. A. Sévigny said of her language skills that "it may be broken English, [but] it is still English".[4]
