Telecommunications in Peru

The technical regulator of communications in Peru is the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, through the Organismo Supervisor de la Inversión Privada en Telecomunicaciones (OSIPTEL).

- Main mobile lines in use: 32,305,455 (december 2011).[2]
- System: privatization began in 1994; adequate for most requirements. Fixed-line teledensity is about 11 per 100 persons; mobile-cellular teledensity, spurred by competition among multiple providers, has increased to about 107 telephones per 100 persons; nationwide microwave radio relay system and a domestic satellite system with 12 earth stations.
- International: country code - 51; the South America-1 (SAm1) and Pan American (PAN-AM) submarine cable systems provide links to parts of Central and South America, the Caribbean, and US; satellite earth stations - 2 Intelsat (Atlantic Ocean)
