The List of Big Ten National Championships includes championships won by teams from the Big Ten Conference and former member Chicago. The current Big Ten teams have compiled 284 NCAA championships (as of December 21, 2011). In the 2011-12 academic year, Big Ten members have so far won one title: in men's cross country to give Wisconsin its first championship in the sport since 2005.
Listed below are all championship teams of NCAA sponsored events, as well as the titles won in football, which has a Division I championship not sanctioned by the NCAA.
This list includes championships won by Chicago when it was a member, but does not include any won by current Big Ten member schools before joining the conference:
- Michigan State joined in 1950, and competed in the conference for the first time in 1953.
- Penn State joined in 1990, but did not compete in the conference until 1993.
- Nebraska joined in 2011.

† Helms Athletic Foundation National Champion, not NCAA. In 1936 the Helms Athletic Foundation was formed and retroactively compiled a list of college basketball champions for the previous 35 years. For 10 of the years that followed the formation of the Western Conference (the Big Ten's original name), a Big Ten team was selected: 1907-09, 1912, 1914-16, 1919, 1931-32. Indiana's 1940 NCAA championship was not recognized by Helms, which selected USC instead. Chicago's 1908 national title was won in a championship series against the University of Pennsylvania.

Trampoline (2)
Until 1969, trampoline was one of the events that comprised the NCAA men's gymnastics championships. At that time, the event was removed in order to conform to the international gymnastics itinerary. The NCAA continued to bestow a national title in trampoline for two years. [3][4]
