Detroit Edison Credit Union was chartered in 1944. In November 2007 Detroit Edison Credit Union completed the purchase and assumption of Huron River Area Credit Union. Lake Trust uses 1944 as their charter date[3]

In 2004 State Employees Credit Union and Ottawa County School Employees Credit Union merged. The Credit Union retained the name State Employees Credit Union.

NuUnion Credit Union was the result of a name change in 2005 from the name State Employees Credit Union.
