Basic list – Portal – Category – WikiProject – Stubs – Deletions – Cleanup |
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Canada. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting.
You can help maintain the list on this page:
- To add a new AfD discussion (once it has already been opened on WP:AFD):
-
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You can also tag the AfD by adding
- {{subst:delsort|Canada}}<small>—~~~~</small>
- to it, which will inform users that it has been listed here.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- You can also add and remove links to other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Canada.
Please note that adding an AfD to, or removing it from, this page does not add it to, or remove it from, the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page, before adding it to this page.
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Americas

Appears to lack notability independent of the Liberal Party of Canada. No sourcing, no evidence of meeting WP:N. rootology (C)(T) 22:46, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Saddletowne (C-Train)
Per WP:CRYSTAL we should not yet be making an article on a train station scheduled for 2011. Calgary Transit and C-Train are the appropriate places to discuss work-in-progress and plans for the system. The only sources cited so far are from the city government. When the station is complete, or very close to complete, we can make an article. I could see a justification for this article, if there was a huge controversy or something causing lots of coverage of the specific station. But, I'm not aware of it. It's just one of around half a dozen LRT stations in the works in Calgary. Rob (talk) 03:38, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Contested prod for a non notable who fails WP:BIO. There are lots of claims to notability in the article but a lack of substance. A grand total of 38 unique GHits including Wiki, mirrors and the subject's company. The rest, what there are, are about other people or directory style listings. Contested prod by anon. A local councillor, nothing more nothing less. The article makes no claims as to meeting WP:BIO and there are no obviously available to sources to establish a claim. Nuttah (talk) 17:00, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Delete - only a local politician of a medium-sized city and apparently without any substantial news coverage does not meet Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Politicians criteria CactusWriter 19:36, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

- Delete per WP:BIO. Also obvious COI and apparent copyvio from one of two websites ([1] or [2]). No substantial WP:RS cited and none found in search. A 3-year council member of a medium-sized city doesn't satisfy WP:POLITICIAN. • Gene93k (talk) 02:01, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

- This AfD nomination was incomplete. It is listed now. DumbBOT (talk) 16:44, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- Delete. Unsourced bio of minimally notable municipal councillor. It is possible for a councillor of a medium-sized city to satisfy WP:POLITICIAN, since the bottom line there is the quality of the sources rather than the office itself, but this article as written certainly isn't demonstrating that point. Bearcat (talk) 06:42, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- Comment - this councillor should be able to meet WP:Politician, based on the fact that he is a councillor in a MAJOR metropolitan area (Metro Vancouver). However, sources need to be presented that establishes his notability ("Major local political figures who have received significant press coverage"). - DigitalC (talk) 11:02, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- Comment -- just to clarify, this person is a city council member for New Westminster -- a medium-sized city of ca. 60,000. He is not a member of the Vancouver City Council in Vancouver -- clearly a major city of ca. 600,000, and as such, whose council members are considered "major local politicians" and all have brief bios on WP. Both cities are within the Vancouver Metropolitan Area. — CactusWriter | needles 12:42, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- Delete not a major city and not otherwise notable. DGG (talk) 15:56, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Contested prod. Subject does not meet WP:POLITICIAN, as he is unelected, and is non-notable beyond that. The soonews.ca reference provided is reliable, but I do not feel it demonstrates significant coverage. Other references are press releases/official bios. TN‑X-Man 13:26, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

- Delete politician whose greatest political accomplishment was coming in (rather distant) third in an election. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 14:15, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
Deletethe one reliable source, soonews.ca, is related to the current campaign and just explains his positions. If there were something newsworthy or controversial about the campaign, perhaps, but there isn't. As is, he's just a candidate and therefore fails WP:POLITICIAN. justinfr (talk/contribs) 14:36, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
