Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AU) has created this Security Policy to explain how sensitive information provided to AU over the Internet is securely processed and stored. For concerns about personal privacy, please refer to the AU Privacy Policy.

AU goes to great lengths to protect the confidentiality and integrity of any sensitive information you provide to us over the Internet. Americans United treats data such as credit card information as critical assets that must be guarded at all times against loss and unauthorized access.

Wherever sensitive information is requested on the AU Web site, it is processed by the secure server, https://www.au.org. Information exchanged with any address beginning with https://www.au.org is encrypted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption before transmission.

SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to a Web site. As an additional precaution, employees of Americans United cannot access credit card information provided on the Web site. All credit card information and processing is handled by Authorize.net.

While AU strives to protect your information, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. Hence, users are always encouraged to be mindful of security when sending sensitive information over the Internet. Americans United strongly recommends that you do not provide data such as credit card information when using public computers or those with poor security standards.

If you have any questions about this Security Policy, please direct your questions by mail to: 1301 K Street NW, Suite 850E, Washington, DC 20005. You may also email us; please reference this Security Policy in your subject line.
