The Oklahoma Chapter of Americans United for Separation of Church and State sponsored a debate on the teaching of “intelligent design” in public schools on March 15, 2012, at Oklahoma City Community College. Pastor Steve Kern argued in favor of teaching ID, while Abbie Smith, a doctoral candidate in microbiology and immunology at the University of Oklahoma, opposed it.
