Kate Middleton, sported a royally modest outfit during a pre-Olympics outing in London on Thursday, but her one seemingly simple accessory actually came with quite a hefty price tag.

Middleton’s Olympic-style necklace is from Cartier and is said to be from her personal collection. It happens to come at a price of $78,000, too, a source at the store in London tells WHO Magazine.

The necklace, from the Trinity range, is made from white and yellow gold and, with its five rings (capped with a large one at its pendant), she felt it was “appropriate” to wear for the event, which celebrated pictures of leading athletes at the National Portrait Gallery in London.

Beyond confirming it was from her “private collection,” a spokesman at Kate Middleton’s office would not comment on the piece, or its price or whether she received it as a present.

Middleton paired the high priced necklace with a cobalt Stella McCartney frock and a sleek pair of black Prada pumps, reports the Daily Mail].

To Ghost Hunter - What a sad person you are to resort to abuse and insults because you do not like a person's opinion. It actually takes someone with an I.Q. to actually have the ability to listen/hear/discuss anothers opinion without resorting to abuse or bullying. Obviously, you have not yet quite reached that level, and perhaps never will.

To Martin B - My age has nothing to do with expressing platitudes. Platitudes can be expressed regardless, at an age when one is able to have developed cognitive thought processes and regardless of whether you or anyone else deems my 'platitudes' banal, petty, trite etc etc, I am still entitled to them, just as your are and the many others who have expressed their platitudes on this subject.

By gee she's done well for herself, hasn't she?! (Not 'jealous'), just amased at the turnaround from her supposedly 'normal, average me' lifestyle - wearing 'cheaper' clothes - again and again, doing her own shopping, applying her own make up. Yeah right.
