Mumblecore dudes Jay and Mark Duplass follow the arch romcom of rebirth that was Cyrus with a bromance.
Sad-sack siblings Pat (stiff, paranoid, Ed Helms) and Jeff (stoned, amiable, Jason Segel) share marital/ mystical intrigues over 24 hours.
The ambling pace mixes with contrived twists but the details charm: Segel’s diffidence, mum Susan Sarandon’s disappointment and Helms’ tragic facial hair provide poignancy.
If the climax strains belief, its warmth is telling: hope is where the Duplasses’ heart is.
