New trailer for The Great Gatsby: watch now

Jay Gatsby talks us through his past

Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby has released a brand new trailer in which Leonardo DiCaprio's titular anti-hero talks the audience through his outlandish past.

He speaks of the incredible wealth into which he was born before moving on to his time in the great war… however, all of this comes followed by a coda provided by his new friend Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire), who questions just how much of it can be true.

There's also a look at the tempestuous relationship between Gatsby and fragile beauty Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan), which promises to fuel much of the film's drama.

Take a look, below:

As is to be expected from a Baz Luhrmann production, the whole thing looks visually spectacular, while the choice of soundtrack is also typically eclectic. If nothing else, it should certainly be an experience to enliven the senses.

Co-starring Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher and Jason Clarke, The Great Gatsby will open in the UK on 17 May 2013.

It actually looks far better than I was expecting it to be... I don't expect it to be as deep or symbolic as the book but I imagine it will be pretty enjoyable anyway!

I can't stand Baz Luhrmann's style it's too glossy and over the top.
