Dial M For Murder

4

Hitchcock's meticulous murder available for the first time in hi-def 3D

Available for the first time in hi-def 3D, this is a meticulous Hitchcock thriller with an equally meticulous villain.

Ray Milland’s ex-tennis pro Tony has designed a flawless mortal snare for unfaithful wife Grace Kelly, and the film’s masterstroke is having him lay it out point by point to a blackmailed accomplice, so that as it rolls out the audience hangs on each hiccup and near miss.

Stage roots give the film a geographical economy – there are just two real locations – and the 3D is still a gimmick, but playing wonderfully against these constraints is a labyrinthine plot that snakes along with Milland’s improvised devilry.
