Mike Edgerly is an editor on the environment, health, education and transportation beats and edits much of the newsroom's coverage of poverty and reporting on the Iraq war's impact on the state. He is also News Director and an occasional host of Midday and Midmorning. In his 30 years as a broadcast journalist, Edgerly's work has won a Peabody Award, broadcast journalism's most prestigious honor; a William Benton Fellowship in Broadcast Journalism; a Gabriel; and two national Edward R. Murrow Awards. In 2006, he was awarded a Heywood Broun Award by The Newspaper Guild for his work with American RadioWorks on the investigative documentary, Toxic Traces. He came to Minnesota Public Radio in July 1991. Since 1992, he has worked on the regional news desk. An avid outdoorsman, cyclist and angler, Edgerly lives in St. Paul with his spouse.
