Happy holidays from everyone at Coca-Cola and World Wildlife Fund!

You have helped make it a truly inspiring end to 2012. We set out with a goal of 50,000 video views to raise $50,000 for WWF's Arctic Home campaign. Thanks to you we reached that goal, but you didn't stop there. Over 60,000 people have supported the Arctic Home project by watching the video and sharing it with friends!

All of the donations we've received through the Arctic Home campaign are supporting the WWF Arctic team's current work preparing a Last Ice Area to support polar bear families. The team is also holding meetings with local Inuit – the people who live closest to the Last Ice Area – to gain knowledge that will help predict how polar bears and other life will continue to live on the ice. You've helped make the continuation of this work possible and for that you have our deepest thanks this holiday season.

You can continue to support this important work by making a direct donation on the Arctic Home website or by texting BEAR to 357357 (for a $5 donation). Coca-Cola will match donations made by February 15, 2013, up to $1,000,000*.

Geoff York has worked for many years in the Arctic, most recently as a biologist and program manager for the US Geological Survey's Polar Bear Project. For Geoff, field work consists of monitoring polar bears' health and tagging and tracking their movements across sea ice.

"Species everywhere are feeling the heat, but none more extreme than polar bears and other Arctic species." - Geoff York, WWF's polar bear expert, speaking about the effects of the melting Arctic sea ice

After handling hundreds of bears in the wild, Geoff knows firsthand the challenges that polar bears face. You can help Geoff protect the polar bears by continuing to support the Arctic Home campaign. Keep sharing the video about the effort that WWF and Coca-Cola are making to create a place where polar bears and local communities can thrive.

For those of you who love polar bears as much as Geoff does, you can make a donation on ArcticHome.com or text BEAR to 357357 (a $5 donation) and Coca-Cola will match donations made by February 15, 2013, up to $1,000,000*.

  3. Update #2

Thanks for watching the video. Right now WWF's research team is hard at work observing polar bears in the high Northern Arctic, specifically a stretch of ice that's predicted to last the longest, which covers nearly 500,000 square miles between Canada and Greenland. WWF's research helps us to understand how polar bears are adapting, denning, mating and hunting. The research team also tracks a small number of adult females with radio devices in order to understand the bears' movements. One of their latest reports from the field illustrates the constant struggles polar bears are facing in the Arctic regions.

Research Team Update on polar bear #N23989 from Svalbard, Norway:

"Ice conditions have generally been very bad this winter, but where the ice formed bears had good hunting conditions with lots of ringed seals hauled out on the ice. After the ice melted this spring polar bear #N23989 started wandering along the shore lines of the northern fjords and at one point she swam across the mouth of the Wijdefjorden – an area with some very active glaciers."

You can help protect these majestic bears by continuing to raise awareness for Arctic Home by sharing the video with your friends.

If you want to go the extra mile and make an additional donation, Coca-Cola will match all donations made by February 15, 2013, up to $1,000,000. To donate, visit ArcticHome.com, or text BEAR to 357357*.

*Coca-Cola will match up to $1,000,000 in total donations made through 02/15/13. Text donations are $5 each. Limit 5 donations per billing cycle.
