It's not “this never happened to the other guy!”....it's “this never happened to the other fella!” Come on Totalfilm !! You are an entertainment magazine specialising in movies !! How could you possibly mis-quote a classic line like that ?

Point to remember: Articles with intentional errors yield more hits and comments than any other type of post. Especially with comments filled with pure nerdy outrage.

The great thing about number 7 is how it still plays so well to an American like me, who at the time did not realize that the group Shaun and his crew bump into is made up of British comedy stars. It just played as a hilarious joke regarding how much alike the two groups were. Or course now I recognize more of the group. After watching the two seasons (series....lol) of Episodes, I absolutely love Tamsin Grieg....she's brilliant. And my love of SOTD lead me to Spaced! And Martin Freeman. Man....Shaun of the Dead is the movie that just keeps giving. I need to watch it again.

Also....I would add Weird Science. The scene were the party is invaded by some post-apacolyptic warriors that seems to be far more than a little bit inspired by the Mad max films and the leader is played by Wex himself....Vernon Wells. I have gotten into so many arguments with people trying to convince them that the two are in fact played by the same actor. Also, with Funny Games, maybe you should have used the original? Even though I guess the shot-for-shot remake by the same director is pretty meta in itself.

That's Omar Epps, not Mike Epps in Scream 2!

I was fully expecting to find Rubber (2010) on this list, what with practically the whole movie being meta. I mean part of the cast is the audience watching the movie happen and the lieutenant who's after the tire realizing that they are in fact in a movie. An awesome meta-movie IMO.

Great list, but seriously lacking any recognition for Seven Psychopaths. The line alone 'I want my movie to, in the first half, be the perfect set up for a revenge flick and then the leads just drive off into a desert and camp out for the rest of the time'....that is the perfect meta moment considering what happens in the movie!

Most of these are excellent, and I didn't know about the Watchmen one.

Does the Xenomorph skull in Predator 2 count? Plus the whole of American Splendour, where the real Harvey Pekar complains that Paul Giamatti doesn't look anything like him. Good film!

How bout Adam Brody wearing a Fight Club t-shirt when he was being interrogated by Brad Pitt in Mr & Mrs Smith?

How is the Bane line a comment on the dialogue "controversy"? I'm pretty sure this scene was written and shot before anyone could see it and comment on it? I see it plainly as a funny, out of character moment, nothing more.
