Jon Collins is an online reporter for MPR News. His duties include filing breaking news and working on enterprise stories. Before joining MPR, Collins was an editor and reporter at the Minnesota Independent. He was also the editor of the Southwest Minneapolis Patch and a legislative correspondent for the American Consolidated newspaper chain in northeast Minnesota. Jon received degrees in history and journalism from the University of Minnesota, where he also worked as a projects reporter for the Minnesota Daily. He is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and Investigative Reporters and Editors.
