Beachcombers, you've been doing it wrong. Forget trying to find washed-up bits of wood or tin cans 'n stuff, and just do what this Lancashire dog walker did: find a chunk of genuine vomit (side note: eeeeeeewwwwwwwww), and then sell it to a very unlikely industry for a whopping 100 grand. Nice. Read More >>
A horrible thing has happened today in China's Henan Province. A truck loaded to the gills with fireworks — intended for the country's upcoming Lunar New Year celebration — fired off its wares on a busy highway, leading to six minutes of the most brightly lit, celebratory destruction in recent memory. This seems like a massive marketing stunt to me, but apparently not. Police in Germany have launched a hunt for a real-life cookie monster, who stole a giant golden biscuit and is holding it for ransom. The prized possession was stolen straight from the Bahlsen biscuit company, best know for the yummy Leibniz butter biscuits. Read More >>

I may have a bad memory, but I don't remember Matrix Reloaded to be about "white men wanting a stud to breed slaves." Or Arnold Swarchenegger starring in Star Wars. Or a Tom Cruise movie called Pepe Likes Tacos. But, if you are in China, that's exactly what happens. Read More >>
Imagine standing on the road one day and having a sinkhole swallow you whole. Or imagine sitting in your house and having a giant sinkhole vaporise your entire building. That's what happened in China. Two buildings in Guangzhou, China, tumbled straight into a giant sinkhole as the ground below them simply disappeared. Luckily, no one was hurt (though 300 residents had to be evacuated and some of them just lost their homes) as construction workers noticed the ground was already seeping in. Read More >>

Armies have always said that doing drill for you is good. But it's not. Apart from the whole tedious marching-around-and-stamping-like-petulant-children aspect of it, it can also cause big, butch soldiers to grow breasts. Yeah. Soldiers with boobies. Read More >>

We all know that those hallowed centres of learning, Oxford and Cambridge, have some serious history. But some of it's a bit grim -- specifically, this human human skeleton, found by builders creepily close to an Oxford college, right next to a spent bullet casing. Suspicious. Read More >>

Two F-15s scrambled from Portland to meet Alaska Airlines flight 819 in the middle of the Pacific last night because there was supposedly a hijacker on board. A hijacker probably named Mike Crotch because there was really no hijacker at all—the whole thing was the result of a prank call. Read More >>
So this is properly strange -- an EasyJet flight from Liverpool to Geneva was stopped from taking off yesterday after they discovered the aircraft was 300kg over the weight limit, and EasyJet had failed to boot people off. Sinkholes are mother shaking scary because it's the ground disappearing on you. And they just seem to come out of nowhere! Like on this Brazilian road, a sinkhole pops up and just begins to inhale an entire car. Seriously, watch the video from the 1:30 mark—it's like the car is driving straight into the hole or Mother Nature got hungry for some metal and gasoline. [Youtube via Geekosystem] Read More >>
