Skyfall wasn’t the only film to exploit London’s Underground in 2012; the opening of James Marsh’s sharpminded ’90s thriller are every bit as tense, as Andrea Riseborough’s Tube-hopping IRA activist Colette McVeigh is pursued by the British intelligence services (led by Clive Owen).
It’s the perfect mood-setter for a film where Marsh (Man On Wire) keeps tensions bubbling away rather than boiling over, after Colette is forced to turn informant on her own IRA-embroiled family.
With the superlative Riseborough as eye-catching as her bright-red raincoat, this is the most credible look at The Troubles since Bloody Sunday.
