A Magnolia-style ensembler from director Fernando Meirelles (The Constant Gardener) and scribe Peter Morgan (The Queen), this globetrotting, multi-stranded story of loosely linked characters is messier than most of their love lives.
On the plus side, Ben Foster is superb as a sex attacker fresh out of jail, fighting his urges.
Less convincing/interesting is Jude Law’s businessman caught in a moral bind, Rachel Weisz’s unfaithful spouse or Anthony Hopkins’s pain-laden father.
As drab and featureless as the hotel room/departure lounge settings, and flush with pretentious musings about our six degrees of separation, this is one very tedious circle of life.
