Following the highly successful The Amazing Spider-Man, it's unsurprising to see our favourite vigilante back in action in 2014.
Director Marc Webb has confirmed his return to the franchise, as have Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Sally Field. There's no word on the return of Rhys Ifans as Dr Curt Connors after the first film's rather open-ended finale.
The casting of Shailene Woodley and Jamie Foxx provide the greatest interest. With no plot information released as of yet, Woodley's confirmation as Mary Jane, and Foxx's rumoured role as Electro shows that the next chapter in the Spider-Man saga will see the stakes raised much higher than before.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, of Star Trek fame, have taken over writing duties, whilst Stan Lee has pleaded his case for a bigger cameo in the new sequel.
