Django Unchained has released a first full-length trailer, and it's every bit as badass as we were hoping it might be.
Boasting the kind of iconic musical flourishes Quentin Tarantino is famed for (Johnny Cash segueing into James Brown, anyone?), the new trailer shows how Django (Jamie Foxx) and Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) first made each other's acquaintance, before outlining the bloody task ahead of them.
Schultz will keep Django in his employ until the two of them can bring in a particularly juicy bounty, a set of brothers who just so happen to be Klansmen. In exchange, Schultz will help Django find his wife and rescue her for evil plantation owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio).

As is usually the case with QT's oeuvre, the film oozes with style, from the startling image of some blood-spattered flowers to the whip-smart dialogue. Foxx helps himself to several of the best lines here, our particular favourite being, "kill white folks, and they pay you for it? What's not to like?"
We've got our fingers firmly crossed that this could be the coolest Tarantino film in quite some time, with genre in-jokes seeming to take a back seat to a lean, focused story and a punchy, quotable script. Django Unchained opens in the UK on 18 January 2013.

The trailer looked great, lots of talking which im sure as always will be fascinating, and waltz looks like he is gonna steal the show (albiet from a 2 minute trailer), looking forward to this.

If you have ever watched a Tarantino movie you will know all his films are basically homage’s to genres and this is his take on Spaghetti Westerns (even though he is calling it a Southern) so yes it will be hugely influenced by the Dollar series, especially as Tarantino always lists “The Good The Bad and The Ugly” as one of his favourite movies and the original “Django” films as well. I think the look of the film is a lot like Inglorious Basterds and nicely dialogue driven (which I think is Tarantinos strongest asset) I'm really looking forward to this film and good to see Leo playing the villain after failing to land Landa (ha see what I did there!) roll on Christmas!

Quentin.... I think this just might be your masterpiece. Anyway, it looks epic. I really hope it's 3 hours or something like that. Btw, how awesome was that shot of the blood spraying all over the cotton? Pure Tarantino.

Wow. The more I see of this film the more I want to watch it. Very Tarentino-y, very awesome. @EddieFelson is right, I'm getting a strong Inglourious vibe here as well. Some epic one-liners as well! Only negative thing I have to say, what on earth is up with Christopher Waltz's accent? I can't pinpoint what he's going for at all! Perhaps it will seem better when it's not in short bites.

Nice trailer. Could be a fun film. Also @ TheKingofCinema, I checked up Wikipedia for Inglorious Basterds and there is nowhere where it mentions it being in "fact" s**t. Where else can one find facts such as these?

When it comes to opinion, there is no real right or wrong, it's all down to personal taste and enjoyment of films. Dalidab, if you didn't like Inglorious, then that's fine, it's your opinion and you're entitled to it, but when you make statements such as "Inglorious was s**t though and I know I am 100% right on that fact" you just open yourself up to ridicule. I for one disagree, I though Inglorious was superb and I'm looking forward to Django. I also think Tarantino is an excellent director and presents his films in a way no other director does. This is purely my opinion and by no means considered FACT, but others are more than welcome to agree or disagree as they see fit based on their own personal tastes and opinions of Tarantino and his films :)

Nope. It's not a war film, it's just set in a war. There are tons of western-style bits and pieces in there (Especially the opening). I got a very 'western' vibe off the whole thing.

Sheesh, I actually try to have a mature grown up discussion about films with you for a change and that's your reaction??? Tarantino himself and assorted critics have been quite open about the spaghetti western influences on Basterds, you ignorant little turd. It opens with 'Once upon a time... in nazi occupied france'. The whole first chapter is a very obvious homage to Sergio Leone. The soundtrack is by Ennio Morricone. Quote from Tarantino: “One of the things that’s interesting to me is equating the Jews in this case with the Indian in a Western,” explains Tarantino. “Maybe it’s not nothing that I’m 25 percent Cherokee Indian. If I go do a movie of Jewish American fighting back in World War II, then I equate them with the other race that I am, and I use the Indian battle plan, their methods, to attack the Nazis.” The whole bloody film is filled with western references, you ignorant t**t. Maybe if you went and f*****g learnt something about films before calling me a retard, you wouldn't run your mouth and make yourself look like a simple d*****t for the thousandth g*****n time.

Also, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is set during World war 2. Is it a war film? No it isn't. Schindler's list is set during world war 2. Is it a war film? No it isn't. Hell, even Downfall isn't a war film and that's set in the closing days of world war 2. Leave the films to the grown ups and go back to watching C-beebies with the kids you keep chained up in your cellar.

Tarantino himself described it as a western set during the war so why you think you would be correct in your opinion over the guy who wrote and directed the film shows your ignorance and I loved Inglorious since the first time I sat down to watch it in the cinema and love it more and more with every viewing but then I'm glad I don’t share the same level appreciation in film as someone who likes the kind of c**p you so regularly list as your favourite films!
