While I’m busy beavering away on Commenting FAO Mk. II (no joke — that’s what my Word .doc is called), here’s a quickie for anyone puzzling over how to add a picture to their commenting accounts:
You have a couple of choices when signing up for a commenting account with Giz UK: you can link your Facebook account with the site, so that beaming profile pic you use on Facebook is automatically ported to our site, OR you can sign up for a fresh new account, and upload an avatar by joining Gravatar.
It only takes one minute to create — I just created a dummy account and timed myself — so you’ll be gathering comments regarding the healthy state of your computer monitor-pallor before you know it. Don’t be concerned if your face doesn’t appear on your comment instantly; it’ll take a small amount of time for Gravatar to link to your Giz UK account.

Only editors have that privilege, I’m afraid! Not that we use it, mind. But yes, the edit button will make an appearance one day — the reason for the hold-up is due to legal objections, unfortunately.
Ah, I actually signed up to Gravatar yesterday, but for the Battlefield 3 Beta to be used on Battlelog. Looks like I saved myself a job there

ok so I’ve signed up with facebook and now have a big grey bar at the top of my browser with links to “dashboard”, “shortlink” and “SEO” at the top. When i click on them I just get told I don’t have permission to access them. Any ideas what this is?
and “SEO” has now disappeared… (“the Edit My Profile” link still says you don’t have permission though too)

How does it work though? It seems to be a different site yet it keeps my picture on this one.
You select a picture on your account there, with the email account you made here, and then if a wesbite has the plugin for it, it will link to your profile here and place the image.
If you want to change your profile image, just go back there and upload a new pic, then set it for your email.

Hopefully, I’m all set up now. I am a big fan of Gizmodo, I check in to read your articles numerous times a day, I’m not totally convinced by the UK version, but, I hope Gizmodo UK can change that! I’m not totally convinced by the UK version simple because not a lot ‘tech-wise’ happens over here in blighty!! Personal opinion of course.
