If you’re very, very luc ky, you might crack a single smile during Andy Fickman’s (Race To Witch Mountain) interminable festive family-com, which stars Billy Crystal and Bette Midler as laidback oldies roped into babysitting their three annoying grandkids for their tightly-wound daughter (Marisa Tomei).
You can only assume that poor Tomei lost a bet, as she squawks her way through the definition of a thankless role while Crystal tosses out lazy intergenerational gags in the general direction of a semi-conscious Midler.
The kids are charmless, the writing is bland, and the embarrassing jokes sound like nails down a blackboard .
With this much filler it’s remarkable that the end result still feels so empty.
