Leonardo Dicaprio

Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio was born on 11 November in Los Angeles, California.

He has appeared in romantic epics (Titanic, Romeo + Juliet), gritty Martin Scorsese films (The Departed, Shutter Island) and big screen biopics (Catch Me If You Can, This Boy's Life).

Inception ranks highly amongst DiCaprio's most critically and commercially successful roles, with his character Dom Cobb's arc inspiring feverish debate amongst film fans.

He has been nominated for three acting Oscars - Best Supporting Actor in 1994 for What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Best Actor in 2005 for The Aviator, and Best Actor in 2007 for Blood Diamond.

DiCaprio began his career doing commercial work, before moving into television, appearing in a Parenthood spin-off series, The New Lassie and Roseanne.

Leonardo made his film debut in sci-fi horror sequel Critters 3, which went straight to video.

His big screen debut came when he was handpicked by Robert De Niro to play the lead role, Tobias 'Toby' Wolff in This Boy's Life

Since then, DiCaprio has worked with a wide range of well-respected directors, including Christopher Nolan, Sam Mendes, and Quentin Tarantino.

He is perhaps best known for his working relationship with Martin Scorsese however. The two have collaborated on Gangs Of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Shutter Island and The Wolf Of Wall Street together.
